10 Reasons Why You Should Regularly Drink Green Tea

We are living in an era which is characterized by, on the one hand, many technological miracles and, on the other hand, the most problematic in which leading a healthy and wealthy life has become the most challenging task. For the good fortune of mankind, our planet is full of many good things which can, minimize –if not eliminate- the problems of day to day life. One of the blessings of Almighty, which He bestowed upon the human being, is green tea, which is rightly considered to be one of the healthiest –if not the healthiest- beverage on the earth. Containing loads of antioxidants and nutrients, green tea has a powerful effect to make on our body. 

In the following ten of the too many benefits of green tea are given, which a person –by regular use of it- attain so easily.

Green tea is good for health
1- Green Tea Improves Health: 

As it has been said earlier, green tea contains antioxidants, which protects the cells and molecules in our body by reducing the development of free radicals in it. The free radicals play a vital role in aging and all kinds of diseases and sicknesses. Apart from antioxidants, green tea also contains minerals which are much important for the good health of mankind. 

In order to achieve the best results, one should be very picky and choose the highest quality brand of green tea. This is because; the lower quality of green tea can possess excessive levels of fluoride. However, using low quality of green tea also brings benefits –though less than the high quality- which, of course, outweigh the risk associated with excessive level of fluoride.

2. Green Tea Enhances Brain Functions:

People across the globe use coffee to remain mentally active and smart while working, particularly at late night. This is because the caffeine, the basic compound of coffee, blocks the inhibitory neurotransmitter which is called Adenosine, which consequently enables brain to remain active. Further, caffeine contributes to improvement in the brain mood, vigilance, reaction time and memory. There is, however, an adverse effect associated with excessive use of coffee, which as it causes the jittery effects to the brain.

To fill the gap and short coming of coffee, green tea is here to help, because it has more than coffee. Green contains less caffeine –enough in quantity to improve brain functions- which is why it does not cause the jittery effects. Apart from caffeine, green tea contains acid L-theanine which crosses to blood-brain barrier. Furthermore, L-theanine acts as an anti anxiety and it also enhances dopamine and increases the production of alpha waves in the brain. Studies have proven that caffeine and L-theanine, in combination, profoundly improve the functioning of human brain.

So, have green tea, as much as you can and remain active and act smart!

3. Green Tea Increases Fat Burning: 

Obesity –which is a natural result of junk food, soft drinks, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and many other habits of our time– has become one of the major health concerns of modern time where loosing is gaining. Likewise, losing weight has become one of the most –if not the most– desirable tasks in present time. There are various ways of losing weight. Some of these are quite easy while others are much difficult. These include, but not limited to, nutrition, diet control, exercise and medication.

As for as the food supplements –which are helpful in burning fat– concern, green tea will be one of the top things which are considered helpful in achieving this task. This is because, green tea, on the one hand, known for the burning fat and, on the other hand, it increases the metabolic rate in human body. Apart from burning fat and increasing metabolic rate, green tea –due to its ingredient caffeine– improves the physical performance by mobilizing fatty acids from the fat tissues and making them available for the use as energy.

Cancer, along with some other diseases, has become one the leading causes of death across the globe. Cancer –which is caused by the uncontrolled growth of cells– is of several of types, some of which have no cure while others can be cured, if diagnosed and treated at early stages.

Green tea is one of those things which can lower the risk of various types of cancer. This is because, as it is well known, the oxidative damage contributes significantly to the development of cancerous cells in the human body. And, it is also known that, the antioxidant, an ingredient of green tea, can protect the oxidative damage in the body.

Green tea may lower the risk of various types of cancer, particularly the breast cancer, prostate cancer and colorectal cancer. Studies, conducted on multiple times, have shown that people who drink green tea are significantly less likely to get effected by various types of cancer. One thing, however, should be noted here that in order to get maximum possible protection from cancer –by green tea– this tea should be used without milk. This is because the milk can reduce the value and level of antioxidant in the green tea which lowers the protection from cancer.

The benefits of green tea, with respect to the brain functions, are not confined with the short term brain functions; green tea may also protect brain in the old age. During the old age, many people start suffering from various mental diseases. Alzheimer's disease is the most common neurodegenerative sickness in the human which leads to dementia and loss of memory. The other common disease, which affects human disease in the old age, is Parkinson's, which is a neurodegenerative disease which causes the death of the neurons which produce the dopamine in the human brain.

There are multiple studies which have been conducted in various times suggested and showed that the Catechin compound of the green tea has numerous protective effects on the neurons which potentially lowers the risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

There is a harmful bacterium in human mouth –namely Streptococcus mutans- which causes plaque formation and is one of the leading –if not the most leading- contributor to creation of cavities and tooth decay. There are various studies, which show that the catechins in the green tea can inhibit the growth of streptococcus mutans. That is how the green tea consumption is associated with improved dental health by lowering risks of dental diseases.

Apart from dental health, the reduction of bad breath is another awesome benefit of green tea. Apart from this, the catechins, a prominent compound in green tea –which has been discussed earlier-, has many other benefits apart from protecting brain from Alzheirmer's and Parkinson's. This compound has some biological effects on human body as well. One of its biological effects on human body is lowering risk of infections by killing the bacteria and viruses, particularly the influenza virus.

In a nutshell, the regular consumption of green tea lowers the risk of infections, improves the dental health, lowers the risk of caries and reduces bad breath.

The type II diabetes is has been deemed to be one of the most rapidly expanding disease for last few decades and now about 300 million people are afflicted by this the type II diabetes. This disease either involves having elevated quantity of sugar in blood in the context of insulin or it disables the pancreas from producing adequate insulin. 

Studies, conducted on green tea and Type II diabetes, show that the green tea can improve the insulin sensitivity and reduce the level of sugar in blood. In one such study conducted in Japanese individuals it was found that the people who drank the most green tea had a 42% lower risk of developing type II diabetes. According to an evaluation review of total of 7 studies with a number of 286,701 individuals, the green tea drinkers had an 18% lower risk of becoming diabetic.

Cardiovascular diseases, which include heart disease and stroke, are the biggest causes leading to death across the globe.

Studies suggest that green tea can better handle and reduce some main risks factors for these diseases, by controlling cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

Green tea significantly increases the capability of antioxidant of the blood which ultimately protects the LDL cholesterol particles from oxidation. The oxidation is the doorway of many heart diseases. Due to the benefits of green tea, the people, who are regular drinkers of green tea, have up to 31% lower risk of cardiovascular diseases.

There are several studies, which show that green tea notably decreases the fat in whole of human body in general and in the abdominal area in particular. There are, however, some other studies which do not show significant weight loss associated with the consumption of green tea.

In the nutshell, green tea leads to increase weight loss particularly reducing the dangerous abdominal fat.

Death is one of the most accepted –perhaps the most accepted– universal truth. Even the very atheists –who do not believe in any power Who created this universe– also believe in death. So, there is no doubt that eventually we all will die some day. Having said that, it is also a fact that none of us –including exception of very few who could not realize the beauty of the life– wants to die; rather everyone tries to live as long as possible.

Green tea can help people live considerably long life. This is because, as we have discussed earlier, green tea fights many diseases which are the most common causes of death in the modern time. Cancer, Type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease are some of those disease which could be fought with the help of green tea.

Considering the ten benefits of green tea, any nutrition would suggest green tea in the regular diet of the people. One thing, however, should also be cleared that the benefits of green tea are not confined in these ten. Rather, there are many more benefits of green tea which could be found with great details in the internet and books.
